Tabs were specifically created for guitar players. They’re helpful for those who don’t read sheet music or simply those who want to learn their favorite songs. However, reading tabs may be confusing for beginner guitarists. But it doesn’t have to be difficult, so in this lesson you’ll learn the basic fundamentals of guitar tablature.
When reading tabs, you will notice six horizontal lines, these represent the six strings on the guitar. The top line is the high E string and the lowest line is the low E string (you are essentially reading upside down). The numbers in the diagram will indicate what fret to play. The number 0 just means to play the open string. When you see notes stacked over each other, they are meant to be played at the same time.
